"Safe handle has been closed" on service deployment

  • Hi,

I was recently deploying an application (actually, patching) we're developing and my website hung for a minute or two and then never came back. I noticed that it hung on a WCF call. In the log viewer in the SaaSGrid Operations Center, I noticed a couple of error messages. One was on a method named 'RegisterNode()' with tag Apprenda.SaaSGrid.SMART.SMARTManager. The message said "Safe handle has been closed" (unfortunately I didnt copy the whole message). Apps I already deployed were running fine, but I couldn't deploy anything new for a few minutes (ate lunch, came back, things were fine). Any ideas on what the issue was?

  • Hello,

This is a intermittent bug with the system that has been reported occasionally. The component affected is the SMART Manager service.

The development team is working on a fix for this. In the meantime, there is a workaround. Either wait 5 minutes so SMART Manager can recover automatically, or manually restart the SMART Manager service.
